Things to do: Congressional Black Caucus Convention

Call is a political 'Freaknik' for grown-ups. The Congressional Black Caucus Convention kicks off this week in the Nation's capital. For those of youts (typo intentional) who have never been. It's a blast! Workshops and discussion forums during the day, parties at night. Members of Congress (especially the young cool ones) host happy hours at hotspots around the District, many times offering free food and drinks. Now some of these events are a little stuffy, a lot of 'what do you do' questions and posturing but you know even the most bourgeois black person gets crunk after a few drinks.

This year should be even more exciting because we have a black president in office.

*The Congressional Black Caucu s Foundation each year produces the Annual Legislative Conference, a four-day event held in September at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The Annual Legislative Conference is one of the most important gatherings of African American leaders. They really need and want all constituents to seize this opportunity to speak freely and often about their concerns, to network and build relationships, and to gather as much information as possible to take home and share within their communities. This year, Hypnotik Entertainment, & The Usual Suspectz have decided to honor those who hold our future’s most precious gifts in their hands. We invite you to attend our Black Educators Appreciation Event on Saturday, September 26th 2009, at Ozio Restaurant & Lounge, located in the heart of Downtown DC. Educators of all levels will be given free admission until midnight, and a gift bag to take home. Please RSVP to the appropriate email address so that we can make sure that all of our teachers, professors, etc are accounted for, and will receive our tokens of appreciation.
