Brew Quotes: Obama as Buckwheat?

"Listen up, Buckwheat -- this is not how it is done!"

-Corey Poitier, a South Florida candidate who’s running for U.S. Congress said the above during a speech about his disdain for President Obama's health care reform. Poitier, who is also black, says his comment was not meant to be offensive or racist toward the President. Instead, he claims he was describing the health care bill as dumb. Poitier went on to say that Buckwheat "is a term that my brother and I use. It was kind of a way of saying, 'dummy,' like when I say to my brother, 'Hey, Buckwheat, cut that out.' That's what it was...People love Buckwheat.''

Poitier has since apologized.  But the vitriolic speech surrounding health care reform continues...
