Pelosi the Party Pooper

At Michael Jackson's memorial service on Tuesday, Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee announced House Resolution 600 honoring the life and times of the King of Pop. Well, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shot that down. Pelosi said Jackson was a great performer but that the resolution would "open up two contrary views that are not necessary at this time to be expressed."

Ah well... there goes that. Pelosi must have forgotten a ton of MJ fans live in her home state!

This all goes to stop short with the thinking that PERHAPS the government has something a little better to do with their time and OUR money than this resolution.
Yes, I am 30 years old and a disciple of all music, and can see MJ's impact, but just what would this accomplish?

Congress recognizes famous people for random crap all the time. It's what they do.

Half of the stuff they talk about is mindless drivel anyway. We only hear about the big stuff, not the hours they spend on the House floor yacking about Special Orders and whatnot.

Heck, even states do it. The Alabama House approved a resolution honoring Miss California for speaking out against gay marriage.

As soon as she said that I said on Twitter: Don't think for a moment this will happen without a fight.

Bless the CBC and Rep Jackson-Lee, but I need them to focus on all the OTHER ish that needs resolutions and legislation.

I love Mike, I do, but he doesn't need a resolution from the House of Represntatives. He needs the damn media to leave him the eff alone FINALLY.
