Brew Beauty: Diversify Your Nail Game

Brush off your b-girl stance...I'm taking your nails back to colorful 1989! But in a classy way, of course.

We've already told you how this Fall is all about rocking a statement nail. They're a helluva lot cheaper than buying the latest "it" bag, that's for sure. We've been all over Minx, lace overlays and sparkle, but the trends continued on the catwalks of Fashion Week. So, now it's time to tell you how to do-it-yourself!

So, where to begin with the nails? First, keep them relatively short. No need to go all Coco with your manicure!



Next, throwback to the heyday of your 80 year old grandma and rock the half moon style. But update it with some fly color! Leaving the moon bare and polishing the rest in a bold, blood red or a daredevil black! Or flip it even further and do a reverse French manicure by putting the white at the moon instead of on the tip.

If moonin' isn't your speed, then get fresh with layered colors. At the Herve Leger show, manicurists started with a coat of black then topped that with red and layered a sparkly purple over that for a color with real depth. Tres haute!

The point is... be creative but know when and where to flex that creativity. I'd say if you work in a stuffy office where pantyhose are a requirement, you might want to get funky on the weekends only!
