Brew Music to Cop, Not Steal: Def Jam Tribute

Add this to your cop, don't steal illegally download collection!

In honor of the 25th anniversary of Def Jam, the label is releasing a 5-CD set called Def Jam 25 Anniversary Collection. The set drops this Tuesday, October 6th. (Pre-order at Amazon for $54)

The set includes a range of 60 hit tracks, including the label's first record, LL Cool J's “I Need a Beat” to it's last number one song of 2008, Young Jeezy's “Put On.”

You'll find everything from Slick Rick to Kanye West to Public Enemy, Jay-z and the Roots.

The set also comes with a book and song-by-song notes from a former Def Jam exec. Wonder if KRS-One will be buying this...ya know, since Def Jam ruined hip hop (listen to the audio for his thought-provoking take on the state of hip hop).

Anyway...don't forget, VH1's Hip Hop Honors will also tribute Def Jam on Tuesday, October 13th at 9 pm (ET).
