Brew Music: Usher + Robin Thicke – “Secret Garden”

I’m usually of the belief that a good thing should just be left alone. Case in point: classics like Quincy Jones’ baby-making ballad “Secret Garden.” This song was a hit when I had no real clue how to make a baby in the first place, but I sure got a better idea after listening to it.

Anywho, Usher and Robin Thicke have remade “Secret Garden” for Quincy Jones’ new project (produced by Jermaine Dupri). I’m gonna jump out the window here and say I don't like it.  And I really hate not liking it because I tend to like all things Thicke.  Hell, I loved Robin even when he was a grungy little thing.

But, you take a listen and tell us what you think.

Download

The full version of the track is supposed to feature LL Cool J, Tevin Campbell, Tyrese and Trey Songz…so maybe I’ll have feelings for it once it's complete.

And here's the original for those who tend to stick to the classics!

Pop quiz!

What do you get when you mix 1 part Let's Jam with 1 part awkard dancing and 3 parts 'Still Sexy As Hell'?

Answer: Mah Paula Patton's, boo with help from that lady from across the pond

PS,Note to Rob: I'd have my people check the working papers on these vidja chicks, the one by the pool looked like a statutory rape charge waitin' to happen.

Brew Music: Akon Remakes "Strawberry Letter 23"

Can't say I ever saw this one coming: a Quincy Jones & Akon collabo?  Jones is remaking a few of his classics with a twist: that twist would be letting modern, hip-hop acts put their spin on the music. First up, Akon. Check the new vid for the "Strawberry Letter 23" remake.

Did Quincy get that jacket from the Liberace collection?

The album, "Q: Soul Bossa Nostra," is due later this spring or summer. Other artists/producers contributing to the project: Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Scott Storch, Trey Songz, Robin Thicke, Tevin Campbell, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson and Ludacris.

Brew Music: Trina, Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Waka Flocka + The Dream

Some jams (or, perhaps not... you make the call) to get your weekend going...

Here’s Trina and Lady Gaga teaming up for “Let Them Hoes Fight.” Gaga is sounding very Gwen Stefani-ish.

Janet Jackson is making her way back on the music/movie scene after one hell of a difficult year. Last month, we previewed her new song from the “Why Did I Get Married Too?” soundtrack. Here’s the official video from the track. It’s called “Nothing” and it’s classic Janet!

I’m still trying to figure out what a Waka Flocka Flame is, but he must be hot somewhere if Diddy is clamoring to be on his track. Peep the video for the “O Let’s Do It” remix, also featuring Rick Ross.

Ok, guilty pleasure confession time. I tend to like The Dream’s songs. There. I. Said. It. This one,”Love King,” is no exception and I don’t even hate Jeezy’s verse (btw, Jeezy dropped the “Young” so update your rolodex).

Favorite line: Got girls with weave/ Girls without it/ She like this all mine/ Hmmmm, I doubt it.

Thank you sir. I’m done!

*I see you Amber Rose*

And, the uber-talented Janelle Monae has teamed up with Big Boi for her new her video, “Tightrope” (no, not the Kim Zolciak tightrope).

Brew Music: Marleys, Kelis + Fabolous

A couple of Bob’s children have united with Capleton for a new song. Check out Damian and Stephen Marley’s new vid, “It Was Written.”  I really need the Marley kids to make more music together or do a world tour...somethin'.

Kelis is making her way back to the music scene. And I’m pretty happy about it. We need another dose of different out here these days. Here’s her video for “Acapella.”

And, Fabolous (sidebar: I have to check the spelling whenever I write the King's English version of “fabulous” since this cat’s been out… he’s ruined my spelling knowledge) is back with a new one too. It’s called “Body Ya.”

Erykah Badu Talks Nudity & Booty

Erykah Badu (@fatbellybella) is finally speaking about her new video, “Window Seat,” which some may think is controversial while others are just perplexed about the concept. She admits to going guerilla style with the video and getting buck booty nekkid in front of random tourists and strangers at Dealey Plaza’s grassy knoll in Dallas. Of course, all the talk went down on Twitter (click the tweets to enlarge images):

It's kinda cute she gets the "okay" from the babydaddies. I think?

Erykah also addressed a little blog hate rumor going around over at Sandra Rose’s spot that she shot the video in front a green screen and that her booty was digitally enhanced in the vid. She quickly squashed that rumor.

BTW, if you haven’t seen the video yet (of your freaky arse wants another gander at her butt), click here.

Brew Music: Nas & Damian Marley Collabo

Nas & Damian Marley are talking up their upcoming “Distant Relatives” project. The two made their way through the SXSW conference and festival earlier this month, where they explained the album.

“Distant Relatives” drops May 25th and features collaborations with Stephen Marley, K'Naan and Lil Wayne. And I can't wait! (I bet the IRS & Kelis can't either... #justsayin)
