Live Music That Doesn't Suck!: The Brand New Heavies

One of my all time favorite bands, will be at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA (The lesser known..A-TOWN!!), on October 24th. Tickets

I can't even tell you how many times I've seen them and N'Dea Davenport (together or separately), live. Glad they've been able to keep it together this go around. Their "new" (as in 2006) CD is still in constant iPod play, but this here is still my favorite song of all time!
I have always said I wanted this to be my wedding song...this or "Ain't No Fun" by Snoop and 'em...but I digress.

Jay-Z Wants You To "Answer The Call"

Jay-Z will perform at Madison Square Garden on the 8th anniversary of the 2001 World Trade Center attack. 9/11/09 is also the day "The Blueprint 3" will be released.

In honor of the fallen on 9/11 (and, his new CD, I guess), Jay is holding a charity concert at MSG where 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales and concert merchandise will go directly to “New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund.”

Ne-Yo Needs A Break?

Poor Ne-Yo. The lil milk dud had some kind of meltdown while on stage in Manchester, England last night. He was struggling to get through his songs for more than a half hour.

Fans say he started the show late, then announced he wasn't feeling too hot and walked off the stage in tears.

He did a Michael Jackson tribute and apparently struggled with his voice. Some thought he was just overcome with emotion but one fan said it seemed he had a bad fever.

Well, at least he was gentlemanly about it. Ne-Yo is supposed to perform in Liverpool tonight and two more London-area shows this weekend.

He's expected to return to Manchester sometime in the future to perform again.

One Night Only

The J-Hud-Robin Thicke tour bus rolled into Atlanta Thursday and surprise, surprise, looky who came out. Jennifer Holliday! The 2 divas blew the roof off the classic “And I Am Telling You.”

But Jenny Hud…why do you wear the same outfit at every show? Spice it up a bit. Dig in the Wig Crypt and get some of those Thierry Mugler get ups, please. The leggings and tunic are cute, but we’ve seen them in every re-cap of your show.

Anyway, peep the scream fest for yourself… (is Holliday gargling at the 4:00 minute mark)?

And note to the dude in the background recording this thing: if you’re going to do us the favor of posting video, please don’t add your own “Oh my God” soundtrack.

Is this a case of Big Luther vs. Little Luther? I kinda liked Holliday when she had meat on her?
