Alicia Keys brought her tour to Madison Square Garden last night and the Carters did a little party crashing (naturally, the crowd went nuts). Beyonce joined Alicia on stage for their duet “Put It In A Love Song,” for which we’re still waiting on a video.

Never far behind… Swizz Beatz and Jay-Z came through too for a little “Empire State of Mind”/“On To The Next One” mash-up.

Jay-Z Is A Business…Man!

Jay-Z broke ground on the 18,000-seat Barclays Center at Atlantic Yards today. It’s the future home of the Brooklyn Nets. Of course, his wife was there (with her red lipstick) to offer her support.

Now, the major move for Brooklyn’s son did not come without some controversy. Protesters gathered near the groundbreaking site to hold a mock burial for the “soul of Brooklyn” which they think will be killed by this new stadium. That Shawn Corey is always at the center of some kinda controversy, eh?

Brew Bits: Beyonce’s Haus of Beauty

Add beauty school to the list of side hustle projects the Knowlesesesss are running. Beyonce cut the ribbon for the “Beyonce Cosmetology Center” (no, I’m not making it up) at the Phoenix House rehab center in Brooklyn today.

The program will teach the students all they need to know to pass the state’s cosmetology exam. Beyonce spent some time at the Phoenix House to grit it up and learn how to cuss before playing Etta James in Cadillac Records. She reportedly donated her salary from the film to the Phoenix House after being moved by the women she met there. The following year, she and Mama Tina came up with the beauty school idea (ya know, Tina’s a hair/fashion guru and all).

By the way, the president of Brooklyn (who knew?) has declared Beyonce an official “Brooklynite” by marriage.

Beyonce will be one of the featured guests on tomorrow's Tyra Show.  They shoot the shizz about Beyonce's Grammy wins and that random "I love you" she shouted out to Jay-Z during her acceptance speech.

Brew Bits: They Shootin’?

Various news outlets reported gun violence outside of Beyonce’s Wednesday night concert in Brazil. Sources say the concert in the city of Salvador was marred by violence when people outside the venue started shooting at fans leaving the arena, causing police to return fire. No one was hurt.

But now, Beyonce’s reps are denying anything ever happened, saying her tour has been a major success (despite reports she had to give tickets away in Argentina). Her people tell US Magazine “the reports of gunfire during Beyonce's concert in Brazil that allegedly ended her show early are totally false. Beyonce played to record crowds on her recent tour in Brazil without incident, including an audience of 60,000 in Sao Paulo on Saturday, February 6 and two sold-out shows in Rio on February 7 and 8."

Hmmmm. Gunfire in Brazil? Imagine that.

Well, that's just what Jay-Z's doing.  He's becoming a "Knowles-Carter."  Now, before you go jumping out the window claiming he's "soft" for doing so, think about it... what better way to show your level of commitment? You want your wife to take your name right?

The Daily Star reports Jay-Z's legal name will now be "Shawn Knowles-Carter, while Beyoncé will go by "Beyoncé Knowles-Carter." Rumor has it the couple wanted to keep the Knowles name because Beyonce's parents didn’t have any boys, so they want to keep the name alive. Um, okay.
