Brew Bits: Nicki Minaj Is Not The Last Broad Standing

Oh well, so much for that.

Nicki Minaj has announced that she won’t be touring with Rihanna and Ke$ha. Nicki tweeted that she’s dropping out of the line-up so she can work on her debut album… ya know, since she’s the future of female rap right now (*rolls eyes*).

The show must go on though. The tour kicks off in Seattle this July.

I admit I was part of that never ending crew who resembled a very dysfunctional flash mob but hey I was just a shorty. So what's Monica's excuse? Didn’t Rihanna break out thise bowl cut around Valentine day? Ri Ri is no trailblazer of century either. Many chicks were rocking this 'shroom do way back when. So what your call Brewchies?

A Little Robotic Squirt?

...speaking of Princess Rih Rih and her shoulder pads... here's her performance at Germany's Echo Awards. She did that "Rude Boy...I suddenly remembered I'm from an island and can wind my waist" song. All was going well (kinda) 'til the jizzing robot.

Brew Beauty: Fashion Week Nail Trends

We’re smack in the middle of New York’s Fall 2010 Fashion week and, already, there are some pretty hot beauty trends emerging when it comes to the fingaz!

 

Blue is the hotness for the fall looks. Models at the Ruffian show rocked a reverse French mani with matte navy and gold polish. CUTE and probably easy to do on your natural nail, either freehand (if you’ve got skills) or with a French mani kit (explained here).

 

At the L.A.M.B. show, models rocked liquid-shine ruby nails. Take a look at the video for the full effect.

 

Another trend started by Carol’s Daughter and spotted by Glamour bloggers is the “Blackberry Bling” manicure. You use a different, more poppy color on your thumbs so when you’re typing on your Blackberry, the thumbs have more pizzazz. Seems kinda odd to me, but it might be cute for the youngsters.

 

Always the trendsetter, Rihanna sported a funky look last week. It’s an animal print mani similar to the lace nail demo I did last month. But, Rih punched it up a bit by using the animal print as a French mani and then covering it with some stones. I kinda dig it.

So the moral of the story here is… play with layers. Don’t just do one color. Try a solid color with a coat of shimmer or copper to give the nails some pop.  And if all else fails, go blue!

It's been announced that Rihanna will not be performing at the Grammy awards on Sunday night.  Rih told Carson Daly that she won't be hitting the stage because...

"We messed up the show pretty bad last year, so they’re probably a little mad at me right now.”

Um.  Who is we?  Seems to me that she was on the receiving end of that arse whuppin' at the teeth, forehead, fists hands of Chris Brown.  She needs to let that "we" shyt go and get up and yodel sing a damn song.  What will I do without my Jeezy fix?

Kirk Franklin Pens Song For Haiti

Kirk Franklin is in on the Haiti relief. He gathered some of gospel's elite to record a "We Are The World"-like track. Proceeds from the song will go to a fund that supports the survivors of last week's earthquake.

Among the list lending their voices: Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Fred Hammond, Tamela and David Mann, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, J. Moss, Smokey Norful, Marvin Sapp, Karen Clark-Sheard, Kiera "KiKi" Sheard, BeBe Winans, CeCe Winans and Marvin Winans.

Of course, don't forget… Kirk will be on the track…talkin'. The song was recorded over the weekend and it's expected to drop on iTunes later this week. So look for "A Song For Pain" the next time you're on iTunes and don't be a weasel and try download it for free.

In other Haiti relief news… this song right here actually caused me a little pain. OUCH! I'm sorry Bob.

Rihanna's Just "Having Fun"

I'll admit it.  I'm getting a tad bored with this one.  It's a case of that Beyonce thing... ya know, the "girl, why are you everywhere, all the time...go on and take a break" thing.  Considering Rihanna took a break for most of 2009 after "the incident," it's not a good thing for me to be rolling my eyes at her already.  But, she's got a new boo, so here goes the "what's Rihanna doing now" post with gratuitous photos of Rih and her new boo, base-baller Matt Kemp.

A spokesperson for Matt Kemp (who plays for the LA Dodgers, btw) confirms the two are having "fun" together, globetrotting and whatnot.  But here's the question... is this a publicity stunt? I mean, is this guy just the rebound dude?  It's interesting that he pops up while photos like this one of Chris Brown popped up on Twitter with random chicks!  And, while he is certainly fine why does this Matt guy kinda look a little Breezy-ish?  Oh, so many questions, either way, I guess... Rihanna, do you, girl!?!
