Brew Music: Usher + Robin Thicke – “Secret Garden”

I’m usually of the belief that a good thing should just be left alone. Case in point: classics like Quincy Jones’ baby-making ballad “Secret Garden.” This song was a hit when I had no real clue how to make a baby in the first place, but I sure got a better idea after listening to it.

Anywho, Usher and Robin Thicke have remade “Secret Garden” for Quincy Jones’ new project (produced by Jermaine Dupri). I’m gonna jump out the window here and say I don't like it.  And I really hate not liking it because I tend to like all things Thicke.  Hell, I loved Robin even when he was a grungy little thing.

The full version of the track is supposed to feature LL Cool J, Tevin Campbell, Tyrese and Trey Songz…so maybe I’ll have feelings for it once it's complete.

Brew Baby Bit: Robin Thicke Is A Daddy!

The world just got cuter. Robin Thicke and Paula Patton welcomed their baby boy, Julian Fuego, yesterday in LA. (Sidebar… Hot Julian?)

Robin had to say peace out to his opening act duties for Alicia Keys to be with his wife and newborn son.

Congrats to them… can’t wait to see the pics.

Will You Watch?: BET's Haiti Concert

BET is getting in on the Haiti relief effort all late and whatnot.  The network plans to do a concert for Haiti next month, with Diddy, Queen Latifah and Pharrell on deck as hosts. 

The two hour concert/telethon, called "SOS Saving OurSelves — Help for Haiti," will be broadcast live from Miami and it'll mark Chris Brown's first "major" return to TV.

Wyclef Jean, Mary J. Blige, Drake, Robin Thicke, Monica and Lil Wayne are also scheduled to perform. Proceeds from the event will go to Yele Haiti, CARE and other charities.

"SOS Saving OurSelves — Help for Haiti" airs on BET, MTV, VH1 and Centric at 8 pm (ET) on February 5th.

Nicki Minaj, Girl, What You Be Taumbout?

I'm mildly intrigued by the current fascination with Nicki Minaj.  I mean, I'm not proposing marriage or anything.  She's no Amber Rose.  But, this Nicki actually has wannabe Barbies who dress like her and glue pink tracks in their hurr.  Are we that starved for female rappers?  Anyway, Nicki stomped through 106 & Snooze to perform "Shakin It For Daddy" with Robin Thicke yesterday and I'm stumped. What.the.hell is she rapping about? All I got was "trending topic... numba sign" then I spazzed out. (*blank stare*).  Cute shoes though.  Hey, I got nothin.'

Paula Patton is waiting somewhere to scratch a broad's eyes out... touching on Robin like that.

Brew Music News: Robin Thicke + Jay-Z Collabo

Robin Thicke is in the studio with the one and only Jiggaman. Thicke tweeted that he's working with Mr. Carter for his upcoming album, "Sex Therapy."

"Sex Therapy" is Thicke's fourth studio album. It drops December 8th.

FYI: if you've never heard Thicke's first album, "A Beautiful World," run to iTunes and get it.  Back then, he just went by "Thicke" and he was a little grungy-lookin'. Hey, he wasn't always smooth R&B...but he was always good!

And, yes, that's his now preggo wife on the cover of that first album.

Robin Thicke & Paula Patton Expecting

Congrats to my boo Robin Thicke and his wife, actress Paula Patton.  US Magazine reports the two are expecting a baby.  There's no word on a due date yet. Last year, Essence Magazine reported Paula was pregnant.  She was spotted with a baby bump, then there were reports the couple lost the baby.  But, that painful news was never confirmed by either Thicke or Patton.

Paula is currently shooting a film with Queen Latifah.  Paula is also in the upcoming film "Precious."

Best of luck to them for a safe delivery!  They've been married since 2005 but were actually high school sweethearts.  They're just too cute.
