Brew Music: Drake - "Over" [VIDEO]

I've been trying to have a "Drake Free" week for the past three months but every time, I fail. This kid is everywhere. Might as well drink the Kool Aid.

Here's Wheelchair Jimmy's new vid, "Over."

Stabbing Shuts Down DC's Love Nightclub

Well, what could have been a huge weekend for DC's Love nightclub and its owner Marc Barnes went bust last night, thanks to some folks who couldn't leave the hate behind in 2009.  A big weekend had been planned for the club, with sex inventor Trey Songz headlining Thursday night and Drake due to perform Friday.  But, DC's chief of police ordered the club shut down for 96 hours due to a stabbing incident on New Year's Eve.  I noticed the tweets was buzzin' about some "incident" at the club, so I did some sleuthing (and, by that I mean Googlin') and sho'nuff, this is the statement from Marc Barnes.

The club also tweeted (yeah, clubs are tweetin' now) that the events will be rescheduled.

What a way to begin 20-10!

Vibe Magazine's Cover Boys

Vibe Magazine is back from the depths of bankruptcy hell with a double cover featuring Wheelchair Jimmy and chief of the SlapAHo tribe.  I take it Vibe is really trying to save money with these Photoshopped-lookin' tee shirts.  Can't say I'll be buying this one, but it's good to see a publication rise from the ashes, since so many often don't.

Vibe Magazine Returns

Like a phoenix, Vibe is rising from the ashes...or trying to, at least.  Drake and Chris Brown are scheduled to grace the covers of the magazine's return issue next month.  We told you back in June about Vibe closing its pages.  But, after the folding, both Vibe and Vibe.com were snatched up by InterMedia Partners and Uptown Media Group.

The revamped Vibe will feature a covre with Chris and another with Drake.  The new Vibe will only print 4 issues a year.  The new Vibe launches December 8th.

So, will you read the new Vibe?

Timbaland Accuses Jay-Z of Hateration in this Dancery....

Damn Jay, looks like you get 3 "Hateration in this Dancery" for this one......

And one lil Man Man......

Super-producer
Timbaland is revealing that he wanted Drake to have a complete verse on Jay-Z's 'Blueprint 3' album. The 22-year-old Canadian rapper lends his vocals to the hook of 'Off That' but leaves the rapping to Jay. Tim, who produced the track, approached the hip-hop star and suggested that Drake's feature be bumped up to a full verse but Jay seemingly shot down his idea. "To me we took [Drake] out of his element. But [Jay-Z] said 'that's good for him,' I said let's go back and get him in the verse ... but that ain't my project. If it was up to me to redo it, I'd redo it that way."

Despite only being featured on the hook, Drake was satisfied with the opportunity to work with his idol. "Jay is one of those guys that you can say, 'I look up to this guy,' or 'I like this guy's music.' I wanted to be Jay," he said. "To have that man in my life and to be able to interact with him and talk to him and, best of all, work with him .... There's not a real sentence I can say to describe it."

Fans itching for their Drake fix can check him out on 'The Blueprint 3' or pick up his EP, 'So Far Gone,' both in stores now.

Drizzy Takes A Spizzy

Rapper/singer/actor Drake should've kept his wheelchair from his DeGrassi days. Drizzy -who did not get the green light from his doctor to perform- tried to do too much and took "the best fall he ever had" on a stage in New Jersey last night.

Peep the video for the nasty tumble... and wait for Lil Wayne's reaction, it's priceless.

Drake will have surgery to fix his bum leg.

See kids, that's why you should listen to your doctor.

Brew Boo!: "Best I Ever Had" video

"Damn, damn, damn!" Drake, we like you. Please don't go down the ghetto walkway to hell with Lil Weezy and 'em. Your video for "Best I Ever Had" should be retitled to "Breast I Ever Had". This video is ass. An abundance of T&A, wow, original. Here's how it should have played out. Kanye could have showed you as a cute tyke with a little neighborhood girl. She kissed you and you wiped your mouth in disgust because you were too little to appreciate some good sugar. Fast forward to college. You're the big man on campus, still cool with the "little girl back home". She goes to the same school and she's cute but not in the Beyonce weavalicious type of way. She stays in the library and one day you're in there getting tutored by some big tittie chick and you see her through the bookcase in a different light. Then you start seeing her on campus and then at the school dance you realize she's the best one for you because she's not like those stank hoes you put up in the video! It may be too "Love & Basketballesque" but it's just a suggestion. I'ma need you to do better next time if you want to keep the non-threatening and well-spoken Negroes in your corner. Don't help kill hip hop too!

So, Drake's Got A Little Sense, eh?

Complex magazine had a chat session with up-and-comer Drake about his new video for the song "The Best I Ever Had" and, more importantly, his reaction to the backlash surrounding his BET Awards performance with Lil Wayne.

Drake's initial performance wasn't scrutinized so much, but his set was coupled with Lil Wayne and that display had the blogosphere, Facebook and Twitter on fire last Sunday night. During Lil Wayne's set, his daughter and other pre-teens were on the stage as Wayne proclaimed how he wants to do the grown up-the nasty-the old pokey-the horizontal hibbidy-inject his beef in the tacos of every girl in the world.

Here's what Drake had to say to Complex:
Complex: At the BET Awards this past Sunday, everyone was shocked to see you sitting on a stool. Did you ever think to yourself, Maybe I shouldn’t perform?

Drake: That, actually—to be honest—was a terrible idea that I’ll never do to myself again. [laughs] But I was being pressed from different areas to perform, and I think what really happened at the BET Awards is with the passing of Mike, the climate really changed, as far as the award show goes. I don’t think it called for us to perform “Every Girl” and “Always Strapped,” and I think it was an award show filled with tributes and music and these genuine heartfelt speeches. And to sort of climax out of a very tongue-in-cheek point, and then people misconstruing Wayne’s daughters and her friends coming out on stage…

Complex: Yeah, it really was an awkward moment.

Drake: Yeah, it was just timed very poorly and it definitely wasn’t planned like that, but with that being said, it is what is. I believe in Wayne and myself and it’s nothing we can’t bounce back from. To anyone who was offended, my personal apologies, it wasn’t intended to offend anybody.

[Brew sarcasm: Well duuuuh! Did he learn that at DeGrassi?]

Complex: Watching it at home, the BET Awards seemed to be a mess. Did it seem that way in person?

Drake: Well, I can only speak for my portion of it. I had asked for something very specific for my performance and none of those were met, as far as production value, so…

Complex: That’s BET for you…

Drake: I understood my situation, as far as sitting in one place, and figured there was a way to make it interesting. But when I looked around and noticed that none of that was going on [laughs], I kind of just realized that it was going to be a loss for me. But at the end of the day, it is what it is.
So far, Lil Wayne has not made any public comments about the performance.

And if you've caught any of the replays of the awards, you'll notice the little girls have been blurred-out through the magic of editing. Hmmm...
