Officer Resigns After Beating Special Needs Student

A Dolton, Illinois, police officer assigned to a school was placed on administrative leave and later resigned (ahem, was fired) after a surveillance video was leaked to the press.  That video shows him beating a 15 year old special needs student.

Marshawn Pitts says he was assaulted for not adhering to the school's dress code.

The incident occurred in May at the Academy for Learning, a Dolton high school for special needs students. He attended the school because of brain injuries he suffered as a child when he was hit by a car.

The police removed the officer from the school and placed him on administrative leave.  He's since resigned.

Too bad there's no audio on surveillance tapes to find out what really happened.  Or is this tape all the proof you need?  What's your call?
