A Detroit property auction went bust over the weekend. The opening bids for the houses was just $500. It's so bad there, when the auctioneer announced "only 300 more paged to go," the audience broke out in laughter. It was the city's second attempt at selling failed properties.

Nearly 9,000 homes were on the auction block, most of them abandoned or burned out. Detroit's vacant space is the size of Central Park!

Damn, the Motor City is a ghost town. It's so cold in D, baby!
