Cornball Corner: Sarah Paln

And just think millions of Amuricans wanted her to help govern the free word? Alaska Governor Sarah Palin delivered a speech in Anchorage on Wednesday. Not big news, that's her job, but in this speech homegirl lifted parts of it from another speech written by Newt Gingrich and Craig Shirley -- without attribution! Say it ain't so Joe! I'm convinced this chick is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Palin was introducing conservative talk show host Michael Reagan when she told the crowd during her 17 minute diatribe, "First, I think what we're going to learn tonight via Michael is that Ronald Reagan's ideas were the right ideas and all we have to do is look back at his record, his economic record and his national security record to know that his ideas were right." Now here is an excerpt from the Gingrich-Shirley article, "Republicans Need to Relearn Lessons of the Reagan Revolution" which appeared in the Union Leader, November 1, 2005. Gingrich/Shirley: "What should Americans learn from this remarkable man and his remarkable Presidency?...The "right" ideas really matter (the left was wrong and Reagan was right about virtually every major public policy issue and the historic record is clear for those willing to look at it). In the same speech, Palin acknowledged that Gingrich wrote an article about Reagan...but never once said she lifted quotes from it. DUH!!! I'm so done. There are several other lifted quotes in her speech but I'm too tired to type them all. We get it, she's a short bus rider. Reading is fundamental Sarah -- so for this you are the Cornball of the week, weak, weak!! And I lifted that phrase from comedian Huggy Lowdown, by the way..

If she had quoted word for word, that would be one thing. But stating the same opinion in a different way is NOT stealing from a previous aritcle.

I just read the whole article and she doesn't directly quote from it at all.

Bottomline, I disagree.
