Brew Music: Reflection Eternal + Jay Electronica + J. Cole + Mos Def

With Lil Wayne going to jail and Gucci Mane already serving time, my inner self was hoping for some good music to jump in and make up for all the vapid rap that's currently on the airwaves.  I swear, if I hear one more Drake song, I'm going to drive off a bridge.  Is it me or do all his songs kinda sound alike?  Anyway, say no more... here's some fresh Hip Hop that more than makes up for the wack flows we were subjected to in 2009.  It's Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli and Hi Tek), Jay Electronica, J. Cole and Mos Def and it's called "Just Begun."

Wooooo!  *Repeat!*

Word on the curb us Talib and Hi Tek are putting out a Reflection Eternal mixtape that drops tomorrow!

Thanks SUpreme for the tip!

Brew Music News: Mighty Mos Teams Up for "Center Edge Territory"

Some music news for the real Hip-Hop heads... You can thank Dame Dash for bringing together one powerful trio!

Mos Def is teaming up with underground rapper Curren$y and ErykahBaduBabbyDaddy Jay Electronica to record a new project. The group will be called "Center Edge Territory."

Curren$y says "We all know the game is in turmoil. We know the machine messed it up." So, they plan to release their music independently instead of using a major record label.

The three have recorded six records so far. It's not clear when the new album will drop.

The three lyricists actually met and politicked on the album idea at Dash's new gallery. See, Dame Dash is still inspiring folks!

Personally, I love how his friend gently rests the calming powers of his peen on his back to soothe him. No judgements at the Brew. (His friend is cute, holla!)

Brew Music: Mos Def, Jim Jones & The Black Keys

jim jones

Leave it to my beloved Mos Def to actually give Jim Jones some credibility in my book.  They've got a new song collabo with The Black Keys called "Hoochie Coo."  The song's been trolling its way around these interwebs for about a month now.  The project is the brainchild of Damon Dash (yeah, I nearly spit out my water too).  Dash has formed a new independent label to release a rap/rock album between The Black Keys and various hip hop artists, including Mos, Jim Jones, Ludacris and Q-Tip.

The "Blak Roc" album drops the day after Thanksgiving... you know Black Friday!

Take a listen.  I love it!

Brew Entertainment: Mos Def "Ecstatic Tour"....

WHOOO HOOOOO! We love Mr. Dante Smith here at the Brew, snag you some tickets!

SOURCE:

Actor and hip-hop star Mos Def will hit the road next month in support of his latest studio album, "The Ecstatic," which surfaced in June.

The performer will kick things off Aug. 1 in Minneapolis, the first of 18 cities the trek will hit through early September. Erykah Badu will offer opening support during the outing's final three West Coast performances, beginning with a Sept. 3 appearance in San Francisco. Details are below.

"The Ecstatic," Mos Def's fourth solo album and first since 2006's "True Magic," has garnered the performer impressive reviews since its release, with many critics calling it his best work since his seminal 1999 solo debut, "Black on Both Sides."

The set features a wide-ranging roster of production talent, including Madlib, J Dilla, The Neptunes and Oh No, as well as collaborations with Slick Rick, Talib Kweli and jazz/funk singer Georgia Anne Muldrow.

The album debuted at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart before falling to No. 29 the following week.

Mos Def---whose real name is Dante Terrell Smith--continues to impress in the acting world as well, gathering accolades for his performance as Chuck Berry in last year's "Cadillac Records," which told the story of Chicago's Chess Records. He also recently appeared in a season-five episode of the Fox television drama "House."
