Hip Hop Takes A Stand Against Rape

Several hip hop heroes plan to speak out against the brutal gang rape of a 7 year old New Jersey girl in late March. Jay-Z is attending a rally in support of the girl in Trenton this Saturday. Russell Simmons is hosting the event which will include an appearance from the Rev. Al Sharpton and pre-taped messages from Ludacris, Chuck D. and the Poor Righteous Teachers.

The girl was raped by seven young men, ranging in age from 13 to 20, while she was under the “care” of her 15 year old step-sister. The 15 year old took an undisclosed amount of money and sold herself and the 7 year old for sex during a party on March 28th.

Here’s more on the story if you haven’t heard about it.

The 15 year old’s grandmother says the family is getting death threats from local gangs.

I'm happy to see our hip hop figures taking a stand when many simply opt to put out less than stellar messages in their music but never have a real opinion on anything important.  It's taken me a few days to even talk about this story, much less contain rage and actually form thoughts to blog about it.  I'm sure you'll have your own commentary to add and feel free to do so.  I don’t think hell has a place for these men. The devil might be too nice for them.

Black “Leaders” Beef Over Obama’s Agenda?

The Rev. Al Sharpton and Tavis Smiley exchanged some heated debate this morning on Sharpton's radio show.  The two got into some he-said, he-said stuff about whether President Obama should specifically focus on a “Black agenda.” The exchange got personal when Rev. Al told Tavis not to talk to him like he’s stupid or distort him. At the crux of the whole debate is whether our president should have a decidedly "Black" agenda that focuses on programs to help African-Americans (Black folks…. however you prefer to identify). Take a listen…

Here's the New York Times article they're squabbling about, BTW.  So, what’s your call? Should Pres. Obama have a Black agenda?

Gilbert Arenas Won't Shut Up!

Gilbert Arenas will not shut his pie hole. After being suspended indefinitely, he's decided to take up tweeting, full time. I swear, this cat must share the same brain cell as Chris Brown when it comes to Twitter. Now, Gil is going in on the Rev. Al Sharpton, who -earlier this week- suggested that the NBA bring the pain to Arenas for allegedly bringing guns to the locker room.

Here's Gil's chain o' tweets:

Anywho... it doesn't look to good for ole Gil anyway. One of his teammates now says the dispute between Arenas and Javaris Crittenton began on the team plane during a card game called “Boo-ray.” Crittenton lost about $1100 to another teammate. Here's the rest of the story...
Crittenton, already angry over a dispute over the game's rules, became irate when Arenas began needling him. Walking into the locker room two days after the dispute on the team plane, according to two witnesses, Arenas laid out the guns in Crittenton's locker. Two other teammates eventually sauntered in and, while Arenas was writing the note in front of Crittenton's cubicle, in walked Crittenton... Asking Arenas what he was doing, Arenas replied, “If you want to shoot me, I'd just thought I'd make it easy for you.” As other teammates laughed, Crittenton crumpled up the paper, tossed one of Arenas's guns across the room, where it bounced in front of a team trainer, and said he didn't need any of Arenas's firearms because he had his own.  Crittenton then drew his weapon, loaded it and chambered a round...
So, does that mean another suspension is coming soon? Stay tuned...

Joe Jackson: Father Of The Year? C'Mon Son!

Now I know for sure that all those years of perming have sept into Rev. Al's brain fo' sho'.  The Rev. Al Sharpton thinks the world needs more daddies like Joe I'ma beat you with this steamroller Jackson.

Sharpton praised Jackson for his parenting skills at a National Action Network event in Harlem over the weekend.  He said:
"The arrogance of [people] attacking a man for being a stern father.  I wish we had more stern fathers - then we wouldn't be shooting each other up."

I'm keeling over and dying now...Hell hath frozen over and Michael Jackson is shamon hee-achoooin' in his mosoleum/grave/oxygen tank.  Whatever he's buried in.

Lisa and Al Sittin In a Tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!!!..........

The ybf.com is reporting that perm-tastikal Al and the former Mrs. Turks & Kinkos, Cairo... ok whateva the fug, you know what I mean! anyhoo, the ybf just got word that they are an official item!!!

I'm done, tag me out!!

Yeah you read that right! And trust me…we’re more shocked than you are. TheYBF.com has learned that Al Sharpton has been getting it in for the last few months with none other than LisaRaye.

Here’s what we know: A few weeks ago our source (a MAJOR publicist in the industry who shall remain nameless) told us that Al and LisaRaye–both barely divorced–are indeed together now. When we asked the obligatory “WTF?! Why?” The answer is because Lisa knows she’s not getting into any of these “society and political” events without a man who could bring her along. She’s also starved for media attention–surprise surprise–so Al is her “In” into that world. And Al–well he’s just happy to say he can have a chick that looks like LisaRaye on his arm and whose perm looks better than his. The two have been confusingly spotted at a few events together like the NAACP Image Awards and Michael Jackson’s memorial services…

Brewing: Shady Sharpton

Damn I lost one-hundred dollars to my Granny bookie! I bet her it would take Shady Sharpton three days to inject his "for-profit" foundation havin' ass into the Michael Jackson fiasco when it took five. Sharpton and Katherine's baby-daddy gave a press conference today to discuss the pop star's estate. From what I can make out between the rambling, Joe feels the family needs to be cautious to preserve Michael's legacy. Makes sense to me. When reporters pressed him on a time frame for funeral arrangements he responded, "didn't I just answer that question?" Then he plugged his record company. But back to Al. Have you no shame? What is your purpose here really? These opportunists need to fade to black, stat!
