Will You Watch?: Black Women Are Hopeless, Episode #490

Here we go again...

ABC is continuing the debate about whether successful sistas can have the job, house, car, baby, man and the marriage.

Nightline is tackling the question "why can't a successful black woman find a man?" in a "face-off" hosted by Vicki Mabrey. The panel features co-host Steve Harvey (multiple marriages), Sherri Shepherd (divorced), Jacque Reid (still searching), Jimi Izrael (just learned who you were today) and Hill Harper (not married). Um, isn't someone missing from the panel: a successful married black woman? Oh wait... there aren't any, right? (If you believe the hype)  Maybe Vicki is married. #kanyeshrug

The "face-off" airs Wednesday, April 21st at 11:35 pm (ET) on Nightline.

So, will you watch?

Rut Roh: Steve Harvey Has IRS Issues

Steve Harvey needs to holla at the IRS. The government filed a $2,159,204 lien against his company Wonder Love, Inc. His lawyer says Harvey did not know about the lien, so Steve is unable to publicly address it. Hmmm... shouldn't the client be kept abreast on such issues? #justsayin

Steve did make a PR-pretty comment about it though:
Even though I'm not allowed to say anything concerning this tax matter...my lawyers are addressing any and all matters, with the attention that this matter deserves.
My foundation work is my mission toward securing a brighter future for the young men in our communities...and with God's help that work will succeed.
I want to thank the well-wishers and fans for their support, and rest assured this is being handled professionally.

Now, I'm sure he duped enough women into buying sold enough books to take care of the bill.

Brew Bits: Steve Harvey Gets Another Check

Seriously, is this guy the only working brotha in Hollywood? He's a radio host, a "love expert" (finger quotes) and an Essence contributor...and now, Steve Harvey can add host of The Family Feud to his resume.

He will take over as host from John O'Hurley when the show begins its new season next fall. O'Hurley has hosted The Feud for 4 seasons but he's leaving to focus on his role in the musical "Chicago" and other ventures (read: fired contract not renewed).

Somewhere, Cedric The Entertainer is pissed!

So Are You Acting Like A Lady and Thinking Like A Man?????

So Steve Harvey was this year's love doctor. He singlehandedly set you bishes straight to the evil ways of men so that you can finally find that ever so sought after love. Who bought his book? Better yet, who bought the book and actually implemented some of his teachings? I'm not gonna lie, I was curious so I gave it a go but I did not finish it. For me it started to seem a little too common sense for me to proclaim myself fixed by Steve. There was no new information, "love yourself",  "respect yourself", "hold out on the pannies"...... blah blah blah, stuff we all should already know right?

But yet there is a plethora of these kinds of self help love books on the shelves, each one promising to get a woman's mind right so she can get that man. Steve wants us to "think like a man and act like a lady", hmmm, well I don't wanna do all that. I'm tired of these helpful mofos schooling women to the ways and games of men. How bout we simply cut out the games??? But then there would be no book to write. I just refuse to believe that any of these teachings are new information to women. Lots of us know when were getting less than we deserve and we also know the things to do to get the exact opposite. It's all about choices, nothing more, nothing less.  We don't need to think like a man, be learned on the ways men think, we don't need that at all.  We simply need to choose better and start tapping into that common sense we are all equipped with.

He says this book came about because of some of the strawberry letters he receives on his radio show, most of which are absolutely ridiculous. Some so blatantly stupid that I think the morning show is pulling our leg. A grown woman doesn't need to write into Steve to find out if a man she's been dating for a year really likes her if she's never been to his home. C'MON SON!!! Ladies cut the chit and save yourselves $25.00 on the love advice nonsense. You are your own love doctor. God gave you intuition, use it! Steve can't help you if you ain't willing to help yourself first.........

Brew Fashion (I think?): Steve Harvey Wants To Dress You

First, Steve Harvey told you how to snag a man. Now, he wants to teach you how to dress. Harvey announced on his radio show this morning that he’s prepping a line for women. He expects the collection to be finished next year.

Meanwhile, he’s already got some duds picked out for you fellas. Harvey is selling 2 and 3 button suits at JC Penney (online and at about 75 stores). Harvey says the 4 and 5 button suit will soon be dead (who does he think he is...Tim Gunn?), so you’d better jump on it and cop one of his creations.

The suits are actually affordable and not bad-looking at all.  They run about $179 max. And you can buy them in separates instead of just the complete suit (that’s to accommodate those thickums who are big up top and small on the bottom...or vice versa. Man hips!).

Click here to check out his shiny suits.

Steve Harvey's Gripping Testimony

Steve Harvey's tearful testimony on Donnie McClurkin's show got me boo-hooing at work.  Have mercy. In the clip below, Harvey talks about how other Christians have looked down their noses at him during his walk in faith. Then Donnie gets to praying... whew! Amen!

Amen again!

Steve Harvey To Join GMA

I knew there was a reason I only watch the Today Show (aside from sesssy Matt Lauer's buzz cut).

Steve Harvey is joining the team at
Good Morning America as a relationships and parenting "expert." Uh, yeah, pick up your mouth and close it. Yes, Harvey, who is on his 3rd marriage and was sued by wife #2 for taking the property and not paying enough child support.

Harvey is bringing his brand of comedy to the show, by interacting with viewers via Skype, live visits to the show and online at ABCNews.com. His first appearance is this Wednesday, August 19th.

I haven't watched this dude since he was Mr. Hightower. But I did buy that manual of common sense,
Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man. What a sucker I am.
