Tyra Loves Your Colon

Now, I'm all for the colonic.  Keeping your innards clean is a must.  But doing it on TV?  Uh, no.

Leave it to Ms. Banks to air someone's dirty laundry.  Tyra aired the first televised colonic on her show Friday.  Ewww.

Victor Quits The Young & The Restless

Laaaawwwwwd, thank God my grandmomma's not here for this one. It woulda killed her fo sho!

"The Young and the Restless" star Eric Braeden is dunzo!  He stormed off "Y&R" after refusing to have his salary cut. He said: "If I signed a three-year f***ing deal, you honor it!"

Well, tell 'em why you mad, son!

The 68-year-old actor has played Victor Newman, a central figure on the show, since 1980. Braeden says he took a voluntary pay cut two years ago. But producers CBS and Sony invoked a little-used clause giving them the right to review his salary every 26 weeks (and the right to cut that salary).

Braeden says a hierarchy exists among soap stars that he thinks should have made him exempt from another salary cut (read: I'm effin' Victor effin' Newman... you can't cut me!)

Braeden could still return to "Y&R" if a new deal can be worked out. His last scene was taped in late September and won't air until November 2nd.

Officials at CBS and Sony declined to comment.

Bravo Ups Its Fashion Game

Bravo has been struggling to find its fashion legs since it lost Project Runway to Lifetime.  There was that Isaac Mizrahi/Kelly Rowland snoozefest The Fashion Show, but it paled in comparison to Heidi and Tim's show.  The one glimmer of fashion hope at Bravo is The Rachel Zoe Project, of which I'm an avid fan.  But, I digress.

Anyway, Bravo's new fashion offering, Launch My Line, kicks off December 2nd.  The show will be hosted by Dan and Dean of DSQUARED2.  That alone may make me watch!  The premise of the show: designers are paired with successful professionals from other fields to compete to get their fashion lines launched.  Get it?

Here's a clip:

So, is it Tivo-worthy?

Steve Harvey To Join GMA

I knew there was a reason I only watch the Today Show (aside from sesssy Matt Lauer's buzz cut).

Steve Harvey is joining the team at
Good Morning America as a relationships and parenting "expert." Uh, yeah, pick up your mouth and close it. Yes, Harvey, who is on his 3rd marriage and was sued by wife #2 for taking the property and not paying enough child support.

Harvey is bringing his brand of comedy to the show, by interacting with viewers via Skype, live visits to the show and online at ABCNews.com. His first appearance is this Wednesday, August 19th.

I haven't watched this dude since he was Mr. Hightower. But I did buy that manual of common sense,
Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man. What a sucker I am.

So Long: An Ode To Analog

Broadcasters across the country are pulling the plug on old school analog and going digital at midnight on Friday, June 12th.  About 3 million Americans will have to reach for their Monopoly boards because they’ve yet to make the digital switch.

I’m going to miss those big ole bulky TVs.  I remember the floor model TV we had when I was a kid.  It was about the size of a Hyundai.  That thing was bigger than the couch I have in my house now.

The TV didn’t have a remote (but we did get HBO on it, eventually)!  I remember when my father would be sitting right in front of the TV but would summon me from the kitchen, or even worse, from playing outside to come change the channel.

Remember fighting with your siblings about what show you’d watch?  Since that was the “big” TV (or, maybe the only TV) in the house, you’d argue about which cartoon to watch.

Remember rearranging the living room furniture AROUND that TV?  It was too big to move once you got it in the house, so you just plopped it down and arranged the couches around that big mofo.

Oh, and remember the rabbit ears?  They never did work right.  So, what did you do?  You went into the kitchen, put some foil on them and then stood there holding them while everyone else watched TV.  And you’d better not move or the TV would go back to snow.

Analog, I’m gonna miss you.  I think I'm still a bit of an analog girl in a digital world!

But I do love watching that Dwight Howard in HD!

Half of one of my favorite couples, Jada Pinkett Smith stars (and exec- producers) as Christina Hawthorne in this drama focusing on the caring Director of Nursing at a North Carolina hospital, a single mother who often puts the needs of others before herself.
HawthoRNe (on TNT) premieres June 16- She has come a long way from playing Piccolo's, Lena!

Tough Love

I’ve been wasting my life away watching that corny Ray J show when I should have been watching VH1’s “Tough Love.” Ladies, let me tell you, this thing right here is the truth!

Here’s the premise of the show:
Matchmaker Steve Ward conducts a “how to find true love” boot camp with a group of women from various backgrounds. There’s the typical gold digger, the over-sexed former stripper and the workaholic. The boot camp puts these women through challenges and various types of dating scenarios to teach them successful dating habits. Throughout the shows, Ward hits them with his “Rules of Love” and tough talk that had me reliving some not-so-bright moments in my past. Message!

Drew Barrymore’s production company is producing the reality show and you can tell a woman is driving this vehicle. There are no classless nicknames like “Cocktail,” “Myamme” or “Prancer.” There is no champagne or dookie rope necklace elimination at the end of each show. This is a learning process. These women use their real names and have serious breakthroughs in what Ward calls his “group therapy” sessions. Hell, I’m not even on the show and I’ve already discovered that I’ve run away from the men who’ve really liked me and chased after the ones who like me but don’t put in much effort. Thanks for the free therapy Steve!

But don’t take my word for it…watch for yourself. Check out these two clips of Steve trying to explain to one woman that constantly using her body and having a carefree approach to sex will never get her the man she wants, much less a man to put a ring on it.

Move over Steve Harvey… there’s a new Steve in town!

Tough Love airs Sundays at 10 pm (ET) on VH1.

Must See TV: Idris Elba Joins "The Office"

I missed the friggin' memo that Idris Elba is joining the cast of The Office. Thankfully, as I was falling to sleep watching Saturday Night Live, I heard the promo. I knew there was a reason I still watched that show.

Anywho, sexy chocolate will play Steve Carell's new rival. Elba will appear in six episodes. You can catch him Thursday night at 9 pm (ET) on NBC.

Setting the TiVo now...

Must See TV: Dhani Tackles The Globe

Lord, why do you give me man candy on TV to trouble my mind during the season of Lent?

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Dhani Jones picked up another job (damn, this recession), as host of Dhani Tackles The Globe on the Travel Channel. The show airs Mondays at 9 pm (ET).

The show is the perfect blend of travel and sports. Dhani visits a new land and learns a new sport in each country.

In the premiere episode, he tackles the art of Muay Thai fighting in Thailand. But he also takes time to learn the country's culture.

Don't worry, the 6-1, 240 lb. Maryland-bred (yes, lawd) baller will be back on the gridiron next season.

Take a look at a clip from the show... I'm willing to forgive that taco meat chest hair too!

TV: I Do Not Have Time For This

Sigh, here's one more foray in the 'Reality' world with BET's Harlem Heights. Same old reality formula, with a slightly more positive spin- Negros making their way in the world today, taking everything they've got... with the extra bonus of someone who's been inside Kanye's sugar walls. (I see you Brookey). Sounds like a fabulous bougie train wreck, to me!

Now I was born in Harlem-- my grandparents and great grand parents lived in Harlem (I was mostly raised in the Bronx) I give you all of this geography to say... I never heard of a g'damn Harlem Heights--/open sarcasm/ but if BET tells me it exists, it MUST exist. /end sarcasm/

Seriously, someone find me a friggen map. STAT!

Read about this sure to be tomfoolery, here. http://www.bet.com/

I can't promise a review, my DVR is already backed up like a toilet after a green smoothie, binge.

Black Love is grand...

...And Black love on television is even grander. Happy Valentine's Day one and all. Regardless of your feelings on the day, take a little time to appreciate yourself. If you don't love you, no one else will. Dabnis and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day by sharing with you our top 5 favorite Black Love moments in television.

5. Hilary says YES! No one loved ole Hilary Banks like Trevor. And she knew it. Even cousin Will couldn't stop her from pre-purchasing her wedding gown. Although the proposal did not turn out as planned, you have to give it to these love birds---forever together---together forever.

4. Brian McKnight Lip Syncs Martin's proposal. It was set up from the beginning. Gina was convinced it was time to let Martin go. Little did she know, an evening in the park would be filled with surprises from a purchasing roses from a "street vendor" to spontaneously buying a ring. When Gina's eyed were closed, Brian serenaded her with Never Felt this Way and Martin appeared on one knee. Grab the kleenex, I feel a tear dropping now!

3. Synclaire and Overton's Wedding. Kyle and Khadijah sang a duet. Maxine professed her love to Kyle and most of all, Overton's parents made it on time. Nothing beats the wedding day of our favorite small town Minnesota Maven and her Cleveland Cavalier! Oh did we mention Regine FINALLY met her ball player---Desmond Howard.

2. The Last Dance. Theo, the dsylexic, Gordon Gartrelle wearing, Justine loving older brother of mine FINALLY graduated from NYU. We didn't think he was going to make it. You saw it in the pilot episode. He just wanted to be regular people. Big Cliff wasn't having that nonsene. And it paid off. Armed with a pyschology degree and an acceptance to graduate school, life in the Huxtable household came full circle. And my parents danced their way off set just to remind us.

1. Whitley Baby I LOVE you; will you have me? Nothing beats a tear jerking good time like the wedding of Dwayne and Whitley. Whitley had the gaul to think she was marrying that old fuddy duddy Byron. Pish tosh. We knew that love wasn't going to last. And when their wedding day rolled around, it was clear to everyone else that Dwayne and Whitley were going to be man and wife. Dwayne pulled the BEST gangsta move of all and stole his woman and married her. ON.THE.SPOT. Needless to say, Patti LaBelle was none to happy. But we all were. Gotta love Muffin and Chipmunk!

Of course there are other love stories on tv to be shared .....this just happens to be what get us giddy!

Meet the Witches: Vanessa Huxtable-Brickey: Desperate Housewife

After being in love with Robert and Roy and searching for my soul mate through drinking games and WRETCHED concerts, I married Dabnis Brickey and we live in the house that he built in the cow pastures of Lincoln University, Pa. It's where our emotional map lead us! I love it out here. It's just us. No brother, no sisters, nieces and nephews...or cousins who move in at the last minute. This place is nothing like Brooklyn at all. I listen to a lot of music. I watch a lot of tv. I'm working on my own memoir--DO THE LOCOMOTION: An inside look at being the third daughter of the First FIRST Black Family.

Just because my parents are Cliff and Claire, don't get it twisted---I will still call you out. Although President O (yes OPRAH) is running the free world, that doesn't mean you need to get out of hand. I would still like my people to rise someday. It's all fair in love and entertainment. Act a fool on tv--you're mine. Release a stupid song--I'm on it. Got an APB out for your favorite celebrities--so do I.

By the way, my parents are still ballin' in ridiculous amounts of money and my grandparents are celebrating their 75th anniversary soon---

and yes we still sing them songs...
