Brew Beauty: Nia Long

Now for the unveiling of a little something new we're doing here at the Brew...
okay, so really it's not an unveiling of a new feature.  I just saw Good Hair today and thought, hey, that Nia's really purdy and seems so down to earth.  So screw it... let's make it a regular thing.  Introducing: Brew Beauty of the Week!

Not like Jet's Beauty of the Week though.  We're classy, not assy around these parts.

Anyway, here's a look at the scene-stealing Nia over the years.

Head to our Facebook page for our Brew Beauty gallery to see more of Nia. And while you're there, become a fan and then follow our blog, whydontcha?!?

Brew Bits: Put a Ding on it!

I've always loved Nia Long and now I know why. Peep Nia and Chris Rock on the Wendy Williams show talking about how they actually went on a date years ago. When Chris asked Nia was she seeing anyone she said, "No, but I know where to find good d$#k if I need it." Wow, forget "Put A Ring On It"..."Put A Ding On It!" Methinks this right here is our new Anthem ladies!

Brew Bits: Nia Talks Weave With Chelsea Lately

She explains the kind of hair she's wearing to Chelsea and checks her on the issue of white people pretending to be clueless about weave. Nia says "oh no, trust, white women were wearing weave way before sisters!" She assures Chelsea that she doesn't hate her natural hair nor is she running from who she is, it's simply her choice to enhance her looks with hair extensions..... I fully expect Tyra Banks to jump from a tree any second now with a burning lace wig in her hand.........

Photoshopped n' screwed?

The beautiful Nia Long graces the cover of next month's Essence magazine and at first glance, I thought "who's the purdy lady?" Then, upon closer review, I noticed it's Nia Long but her face (mainly, the nose area) looks waaaay to Photoshopped to me. I know Photoshopping is the standard in media these days, but there's NO need to Photoshop THE Nia Long. I mean, where are her little freckles? She's fabulous. Lay off the airbrush Essence!

Brew Bits: Nia Long for PETA

Following the footsteps of *cough* notable *cough* celebs, Pam Anderson and Big Jack Kardashian The newest actress to go nakey for PETA and get the airbrusherooni is Brew Fave Nia Long. I don't think I mind the airbrushing so much, it's the fact that they look like they pixelated her lady parts out, just like a Ken doll.

Check out her PETA interview here... it would be dope as hell if they can get her to go all militant at colored award shows and throw paint on all the hippity hop fur wearing bamas. She can get all up close and personal like. Not that I neccessarily have a cold hard stance on fur wearing... but this here is a travesty!

Pride Magazine Apologizes For Nia's Comments Suggesting Beyonce Needs Acting Classes.....

and blames it on editing..... yeah right! Nia said that ish and ya'll know it! Let me find out there's a gag order on celebs speaking out against Beyonce......

Here’s Pride’s statement:

“Pride Magazine would like to apologize for the fact that editing of the final article may have left Nia’s comments open to tabloid manipulation. As Europe’s premier publication for the woman of colour, Pride seek only to celebrate the achievements of celebrities such as Nia Long and Beyonce, and hope no offense has been caused through the media speculation.”

Hmmmm mmmm, whatevs!

Bollywood Bomb: Critics Say Nay Nay is a No No

Well first.... who freakin knew Naomi Campbell was trying her hand at acting the Bollywood route?? Nia Long musta schooled her ass! But um yeah, so apparently it sucked huge monkey balls.....

Yikes! Sorry Nay Nay.....

Supermodel Naomi Campbell's first Bollywood venture "Karma, Confessions and Holi" bombed badly at the box office.

Critics and others described it as: "lacks everything a good movie consists of", "undignified", "disaster", "unholy mix", "unholy mess", "torture", etc.

Filmed in New York and Princeton (New Jersey), this 110 minutes drama about a couple living in New York, directed by Manish Gupta (Indian Fish in American Waters), and co-produced by Robert De Niro's daughter Drena De Niro (The Lovebirds), also starred Sticky Fingas, Vincent Curatola, Lisa Branch, Claire Fricke, Jamieson Rhyme, etc. Campbell played the role of Jennifer.

"Mission 1!"...... Go to Acting School says Nia Long

Bey seems to get subtly dissed by 'real' actors on a consistent basis. The newest thespian to take a low key jab at her is Nia Long. In a recent interview with Pride magazine she was asked what she thinks about Mrs. Carter's performance in Obsessed and Long said:

“I didn’t see ‘Obsessed,’ so I can’t comment, but it’s just not about how talented you are anymore. It’s about, ‘How much box-office revenue will this person generate?’ When you see certain people – we won’t name names – they just don’t have the skill, and no one in their team has said, ‘You need acting classes,’” Long replied.

Hmmm.... well my answer might be identical, I didn't see obsessed and have no plans to. Does Nia have a point or is she just 'hating' as they say in the colored circles???
