Brew Bits: PETA Is Not Feeling Mike Tyson’s Pigeon Fest

PETA wants to go toe-to-toe with Mike Tyson of his new Animal Planet show, “Taking on Tyson” (tentative title).

PETA sent a letter to prosecutors in New York City asking them to investigate the show. They want prosecutors to look for illegal activity because “it is likely that extensive wagering will take place on the outcome of these races, as it customary in the industry” and PETA fears the birds may be treated cruelly.

In response to PETA’s feather-ruffling, Animal Planet says:
Regarding PETA’s latest allegations, I wanted to clarify that for Animal Planet’s Taking on Tyson show, there have never been any plans for wagering on the pigeon races. We have not yet begun filming but, rest assured, all of the pigeons that we will feature in the program are cherished and respected by their owners, including Mr. Tyson. Animal Planet will honor that respect and care in our production and in how these beautiful creatures are treated.

PETA stays on somebody’s tail feathers, huh?

Take Dat, Take Dat... PETA Case #988790238423

Folks ain't effin' with PETA and their peeps no more.  Used to be a time when those fur-huggers would say some grimey isht or toss red paint on ya and you'd run off in shame and be on the fashion shyt list for a minute, only to emerge with a fresh chinchilla in about a year.  And so went the vicious cycle.

Well, not any more.  Celebs are going innnn on PETA and clapping back. Case in point: the extra faaaaabulous figure skater Johnny Weir.  One of Johnny's costumes has some fox fur on the sleeve.  Several groups (including PETA) have asked Johnny to stop wearing the fur... some going so far as to send him videos of how animals are tortured for their fur.  Another group called, Friends of Animals, sent him and his costume designer an open letter about the fur.

That letter sent Johnny's index finger pointing and his neck rolling:
“I totally get the dirtiness of the fur industry and how terrible it is to animals. But it’s not something that’s the No. 1 priority in my life. There are humans dying everyday. There are thousands if not millions of homeless people in New York City. Look at what just happened in Haiti. I tend to focus my energy, if there is a cause, on humans. While that may be callous and bad of me, it’s my choice.  Every skater is wearing skates made out of cow.  Maybe I’m wearing a cute little fox while everyone else is wearing cow, but we’re all still wearing animals.”
Then Weir went off on the group because this is the first time anyone has tried to put the verbal smackdown on his designer:

“She did what I asked her to. It wasn’t her choice to make me a costume with fur.  At least directly come to me and yell at me. Don’t attack my peeps.”
His peeps?  Is he 'bout to call Pookie & 'em?

HEY PETA, Kelis says SUCK IT.

Gosh, I just thought Nas should do a budget check, but Those passionate PETA peeps got in their feelings about this:

Either way, they stepped to the wrong fur-monger. And in The Way Of The Lady, Kelis the she-yeti whipped up a pithy retort! (Bougie thugs, unite! I love whipping off a nice nasty letter, especially on some fabulous customized stationery. Nothing says "Old biddy getting free shyt" like a good ol' soap boxyLETTER). An excerpt:

"Underpaid minorities picking your vegetables, now that's fine for you right? Please, fight for their rights. How about the poverty in the communities of brown people around the world. She had the nerve to say (and I quote) "get over it" talking of the issue of black people and slavery in this country verses cows being slaughtered. Is she kidding me? Lol yes she must be. Actually, she's lucky most black people have real issues to worry about in the U.S and don't give a crap what her delusional privileged opinions are. But she should try saying that again just for kicks n giggles on the corner of Adam Clayton Powell Blvd in Harlem n see how well people "get over it" lol.

If u want to preach do it about something worthwhile don't waste my time trying to save the dang chipmunk.

Find a worthwhile cause like the women being maimed in these Middle Eastern countries. Or female circumcision. Or women's rights here in America, we still get paid less for doing the same jobs as men. Quite honestly if you hate the world so much go live in the forest where no one else has to hear you complain about the perfectly good food chain the good Lord created. Everyone has the right to an opinion, and that's mine on that! xoxo "

Brew Bits: Gunslinger Poses For PETA

Can you say... bad timing?

PETA dropped its latest "Ink Not Mink" ad and it features *drumroll* suspended NBA star Gilbert Arenas.  The ad came out today, Gil's birthday and the same day NBA commissioner David Stern suspended Arenas indefinitely for allegedly pulling a gun on a teammate in the Washington Wizards' locker room.

PETA #fail... but I ain't mad at the man meat on display.

Mario Goes Topless For PETA

Mario's gettin' a lil nekkid for animal rights group PETA.  It's part of the group's latest “Ink, Not Mink” campaign.  The tagline is: “Be comfortable in your own skin, and let animals keep theirs.”

But c'mon, ya'll just wanna see his nipples anyway.  Enjoy!

(I sure hope that's not a leather belt though... #justsayin)

PETA Pisses Off The Church

PETA is in the business of pissing people off.  This time, they've crossed the church.  Playboy "model" and  former Dancing With The Stars contestant Joanna Krupa posed for a PETA ad promoting pet adoption.  Well, the Catholics are all atwitter over it because she's clutching a gigantic cross to cover up her lady bits.

The Catholic League says the ad "exploits Christian symbols” with its use of a crucifix in the seductive advertisement. Krupa wants the Catholics to fall back... she said:

“It’s understandable that the Catholic League is weary of another sex scandal, but the sex we’re talking about pertains to dogs and cats. As a practicing Catholic, I am shocked that the Catholic League is speaking out against my PETA ads, which I am very proud of. I’m doing what the Catholic Church should be doing, working to stop senseless suffering of animals, the most defenseless of God’s creation.”

What's your call? Is the PETA ad too racy? Should the church be offended?

Uh PETA... Come Get This Trick, STAT!

Ok Mr. PETA, instead of plastering billboards all over the place disparaging fatties across the nation, why don't you come and lock this heffa up in a chicken coupe and let them have their way with her incompetent ass! She was supposed to be demonstrating a humane way to kill a chicken and well things didn't work out too good.....

Brew Bits: PETA Goes Hard At The Chunky But Funky....

Wow PETA, WOW! This is just rude! This a billboard on display in Jacksonville, Florida. This is why it's so hard to be on PETA's extreme side, for an organization primarily set up for good it seems they don't have any boundaries for who they will insult to spearhead their agenda, this ad campaign is just wrong....

A new PETA billboard campaign that was just launched in Jacksonville reminds people who are struggling to lose weight -- and who want to have enough energy to chase a beach ball -- that going vegetarian can be an effective way to shed those extra pounds that keep them from looking good in a bikini. [....]

Anyone wishing to achieve a hot "beach bod" is reminded that studies show that vegetarians are, on average, about 10 to 20 pounds lighter than meat-eaters. [...]

"Trying to hide your thunder thighs and balloon belly is no day at the beach," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "PETA has a free 'Vegetarian Starter Kit' for people who want to lose pounds while eating as much as they like.

I know plenty of vegetarians that wolf down pizzas and fries all day and poke their vegan chests out like they are somehow better than a meat eater. Also know a crapload of fat vegetarians so PETA's reasoning behind this ad is senseless. Shame on you PETA! The "thunder things and balloon belly" comment....... totally uncalled for! WOW!

Brew Bits: Nia Long for PETA

Following the footsteps of *cough* notable *cough* celebs, Pam Anderson and Big Jack Kardashian The newest actress to go nakey for PETA and get the airbrusherooni is Brew Fave Nia Long. I don't think I mind the airbrushing so much, it's the fact that they look like they pixelated her lady parts out, just like a Ken doll.

Check out her PETA interview here... it would be dope as hell if they can get her to go all militant at colored award shows and throw paint on all the hippity hop fur wearing bamas. She can get all up close and personal like. Not that I neccessarily have a cold hard stance on fur wearing... but this here is a travesty!
