Breaking Brew: Conan Gets A Gig

Team Coco rejoice! Conan O'Brien is returning to TV. He's inked a deal with TBS for a talk show that debuts in November. The show will air Monday - Thursday at 11 pm (ET), which will push Lopez Tonight to the midnight timeslot. I hope George doesn't feel Conan is punking him like NBC and Leno did to Conan.

So, when the "new" Conan show airs, will you watch?

Wash, Rinse, Repeat!

"We fall down, but we get up..." we interrupt the following gospel moment to deliver Breaking Brew about this big-faced sinner who could use some of White Jesus' blessings! Bryson Bryant a.k.a. NeNe Leakes' basement baby was arrested last night. T-Painer with the soap opera name turned himself in on an outstanding warrant. That warrant stemmed from an additional charge related to his March 7 arrest for possessing some stanka dank! This studio gangsta needs to go back to that fictional school he was claiming back on RHOA and stop playing with me!

Breaking Brew: Lil Wayne NOT Going To Jail Today

Well, so much for the "so long, Wayne" tweets, cards and gift baskets.  Lil Wayne won't be going to jail today as expected.  His sentencing for a 2007 gun charge in New York City was postponed again today, due to basement fire at the courthouse.

Lil Weezer was due to appear in court today and receive a one year sentence for a second degree gun possession charge that he plead guilty to last October.  Last month, he was able to get the sentencing delayed due to a jacked up grill piece.

No word yet just when he'll be shipped off to Rikers.

Breaking Brew: Bill Clinton Hospitalized

Former president Bill Clinton has been hospitalized in New York with chest pains.  Details are sketchy at the moment, but the Reuters news service is reporting two sources close to the former prez say he has been hospitalized.  You'll recall Clinton does have a history of heart health issues, having had bypass surgery in 2004.

We'll keep you posted.

UPDATE: MSNBC reports Clinton has received a stent. A stent is small mesh tube that is used to treat narrowed or weakened arteries. A hospital source says Clinton called Columbia Presbyterian Hospital two days ago, saying he didn't feel well. He was due to come to the hospital yesterday but postponed that appointment until today.

ABC News reports Clinton had 2 stents inserted in an artery, but that Clinton was feeling "discomfort."  They're not calling it "chest pains."

Breaking Brew: Warren Sapp Arrested

Former NFL baller and “Dancing With The Stars” twinkle toes Warren Sapp was arrested by Miami Beach police today and charged with domestic battery. The charge stems from an incident early this morning at a South Beach hotel.

The 37 year old is an analyst for the NFL Network.  Of course, he's in Miami for the Super Bowl and was set to host an event at BED Miami tonight.  You know we'll be watching for details...

UPDATE: The "incident" involved Sapp's girlfriend. Police say he allegedly choked his girlfriend around 5 am this morning at the Shore Club Hotel. Sapp's girlfriend of 2 years reportedly had "a swollen right knee and bruises on the back of her neck."

TMZ reports Sapp allowed her (the girlfriend) to sleep in his hotel room -- then came into the room early in the morning and pulled her out of bed. The alleged victim says they began arguing about guys she was hanging out with earlier Friday night.

He later threw her out of the room because he was "expecting company." We know what that means, right?  Super Bowl jump-offs! Sapp claims he was trying to help the girlfriend out of the room when she fell. SIDEBAR: Who brings a girlfriend to Super Bowl weekend?  Sand to the beach much?

Anyway, looks like Warren will be out of a job for a lil bit.  The NFL Network says he won't appear on their air until they review the incident.

SMH.

Keyshia Cole’s fiancé Daniel “Boobie” Gibson left his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, to be with Keyshia tonight because she’s in labor! Boobie (we won’t even address that name) just made it into the starting lineup but that’s taking a back seat to him becoming a babydaddy.

Keyshia was hospitalized for some precautionary reasons but the tweets is watching…and word is she’s about to pop.

Somewhere, Frankie is having a celebratory smoke toast.

UPDATE: Apparently, Boobie wants to play in the 2nd half. Hmmm...*side eye*  And labor has yet to be confirmed.  (Stay tuned...)

Breaking Brew: Teddy Pendergrass Dies

In even more sad news today, R&B legend Teddy Pendergrass died Wednesday.  He was just 59 years old.  He'd reportedly been in poor health during the last year as a result of his paralysis condition.

While details are sketchy at the moment, the Internet (Twitter, to be specific) has been abuzz with initial "RIP" tweets of his death and a few "confirmations" have come through as well. We're hoping this isn't true, but as always, watch this space for details.

We'll update you as more info become available.  I'm seriously hoping this one is just a hoax.

UPDATE: AOL's Black Voices has confirmed the death.

Pendergrass survived a car crash 28 years ago that left him in a wheelchair. His son says he had a difficult recovery from colon cancer surgery which left him hospitalized in recent months.

Longtime collaborator Kenny Gamble said of Teddy:
"He had about 10 platinum albums in a row, so he was a very, very successful recording artist and as a performing artist. He had a tremendous career ahead of him, and the accident sort of got in the way of many of those plans."
He will be greatly missed.
