Check out the trailer for Common and King Queen Latifah’s new flick, Just Wright. Latifah stars as a physical therapist who rehabs a pro-baller and judging from the trailer… you can tell she gets to hump Common at some point in this movie.

Good lawd, look at the fineness up in this flick! But, something about this movie makes me want to sing “Khadijah, I need ya”…

Brew Flicks: Karate Kid Trailer

Here's the trailer for Jaden Smith's remix of The Karate Kid. Apparently it's about a street smart boy who moves to China with his single mamma, played by Taraji Henson in a bad curly yaki weave. How orginal. If Taraji's in it then will Madea end the movie by doing this Electric Slide on the Great Wall? I guess....

Who needs Netflix when you can just watch a mash-up of the year's top movies in under 2 minutes?  Hey, it beats snoozing through another Katherine Heigl flick... and save yourself some coin in the process.

Hollywood.com compiled 150 cuts from some of this year's top movies into a minute and a half of seizure-inducing, jolting clips.

What...they couldn't spare 2.5 seconds for Precious falling down the stairs in slo-mo? C'mon son. Good thing it's already on YouTube.

Will Smith's Kid Brings Home A Check

Jaden Smith, the little tyke of Will and Jada, is bringing home his own bacon these days (errrybody needs to pull their weight ... including the 11 year olds!).  He's the lead in the remake of the 1984 classic, The Karate Kid.  Jackie Chan stars as the modern day Miyagi.

Young Jaden says he trained for 4 months to learn the moves.  The film was shot in Beijing, ya know, for that real caublanasian feel.

Now, I'm normally no fan of the remake, but I'm trying to hold my judgment here, at least until the previews start circulating.

The flick is due in theaters June 11th.

Brewchies At The Movies: Idris Elba To Play Super Hero

Idris Elba rescues me in my dreams every night, but apparently he's about to do that in a movie for real too.

Elba will star in the film adaptation of the popular Marvel comic book, "Thor." He's set to play Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard who defends the city from intruders. The film also stars Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth. "Thor" tells the tale of the Norse god of Thunder.

Filming is set to begin next year.

Brewchies At The Movies: Jennifer Hudson To Play Winnie Mandela

Who says winning an Oscar doesn't mean anything? (*looking at YOU, Mo'Nique*)

Jennifer Hudson landed the title role in Winnie, a new film based on the life of Winnie Mandela, the controversial former wife of freedom fighting legend, peacekeeper and South Africa’s first Black president, Nelson Mandela.  The film begins shooting next May in various cities throughout South Africa.

Jennifer says she was "compelled and moved when [she] read the script."  Hudson won the Academy Award in 2007 for her role in Dreamgirls.  Since then, she's appeared in The Secret Life of Bees and the Sex and the City movie (ok, we forgive you for that one JHud).

Brew Throwback: The Berenstain Bears

Everything that's old is new again in Hollywood, whether it's Transformers, Where The Wild Things Are or The Fantastic Mr. Fox.  Now, The Berenstain Bears are coming to life on the big screen.

The movie will be a mix of live-action and computer animation.  The director of Night at the Museum is behind the project, which should be released in 2011.

Brewchies At The Movies: "This Is It"

Thirty minutes ago I had one of the best cinematic experiences of my life.  I saw "This is It" for the first of what I'm certain will be many times to come.  I bought my tickets online weeks before the film even opened, mainly because I'm lazy and don't like to wait, but I was also scared that they'd sell out and I'd miss my chance to see the film on the big screen.  I'm also one of those go big or don't go at all types, so if the tickets go on sale early, I stalk the website and am first in line to buy mine.  I know.  It's a problem and I'm fully aware I have it.

When I arrived at the theatre, I was giddy yet cautious not to let my tissues get too far away from me.  All week long I'd thought this would be a great piece of cinema but one that would leave me in tears, thinking about how sad Michael Jackson's demise was.  Or, how pitiful his final days were.  Boy, was I wrong.  Each moment of this film took me back to 1985, or 1990, or a school dance, or an awards show.  I thought about where I was when I saw him perform Billie Jean for the first time on TV, or how the Motown 25 VHS tape still lives in my grandparents' house even though both of them are long gone.

Each song took me to exactly where I was when I first heard it.  I was captivated and awed by the sheer genius of Michael and the people with which he surrounded himself.  The ideas they crafted.  The way they recreated the major videos in Jackson's catalog, giving them a modern feel but staying true to the classics we all love.  Can you imagine what a 3D Thriller would have looked like?  Well, I can now.

I didn't cry (although things got a little shaky during Earth Song and Man In The Mirror), nor did I wallow too long in pity or sadness.  I left the theatre -not saddened- but reminded how brilliant this man was.  I left the theatre wanting more but yet satisfied that I'd had him in my life for 30+ years.  I even left the theatre wanting to recycle more!  (You'll get it once you see it)

So, don't be sad for MJ.  Don't mourn for MJ.  Mourn for us if we don't heed his warnings about healing the world.  Mourn for us if we don't stop to appreciate the love we all have in our lives... the love he tried to share with the world.  Mourn for us if we don't walk out those theatre doors with a bop in our heads, a song in our hearts and a glide in our steps.

That was it for him.  But, this film reminds us, it doesn't have to be for the rest of us.

Brewchies At The Movies: "Invictus"

Morgan Freeman is tackling the role of Nelson Mandela in the new film, "Invictus."  It's about Mandela's efforts to unite a racially-divided South Africa for the Rugby World Cup.  "Invictus" was directed by Clint Eastwood and it also stars Matt Damon as rugby player Francois Pienaar.  The film hits screens December 11th.

So, will you go see it?

Michael Moore Returns...Fires At "The Man"

Filmmaker Michael Moore is back!

Moore has taken on the Detroit car industry, the U.S. Army and the gun and health care lobby. He's back to tackle capitalism in his latest documentary Capitalism: A Love Story.



Critics say this one isn't as powerful as Moore's previous docs, but he nails his frequent message that business is messing things up for the little guy and mom & pop.

I've loved every documentary Moore has made, so I'll grab a ticket and some popcorn for this one.

Capitalism hits theatres October 2nd.

Moore will also sit down for a chat with Oprah. That airs September 22nd.

SATC Wants Y-O-U!

The producers of the Sex and the City movie sequel are looking for a few good women to round out the cast. Next Tuesday, August 4^th, the Grant Wilfley Casting company is holding an open call at New York City's Metropolitan Pavilion for "models, celebrity types, upscale socialites, urban club-goers, gays & lesbians, 'xotic types (you know, Middle Easterners, Arabs, Asians, etc…) and professional soccer players (random)."

"Sex and the City 2" is not yet in production but it's rumored to begin filming in early Fall.

Well, I can't do much for the soccer player or the upscale socialite types, but I can get down as a club-goer (it's practically my part time job anyway)… and hell, maybe, I could pass for the lesbian. I'm just sayin'... the chicks dig me (I don't dig back though).

Ok as a child the movie and character that most scared the captain crunch outta me was Damien from "The Omen".



It just didn't get any eviler than this boy to me. Good grief! Well move over Damien..... Esther's in town! and this lil mofo right here looks like she means bitness!



I'm scared just typing this.... I guess I'll go see it with a man with lots of muscles..... plus they like when you're all scared and stuff, they think they can get the poon easier that way, dummies!
