In Case You Missed It: Mo’Nique’s Brother on Oprah

If you missed yesterday’s Oprah show, then you missed Mo’Nique’s brother’s crocodile-tearful apology for molesting her as a child. Take a look…

The rest of the interview featured her parents and her other brother, but no appearance or comments from Mo'Nique. I dunno. I got a cocked, wonky side eye on this situation for some reason. What's your call?

Eva Marcille Has A Mean Shoe Game

Eva was on the Mo’Nique show. Not sure why…but her shoes are doing something fierce…

Ok, the posing along the banister… *rolls eyes*

I wish I would try to walk down the street, crossing my legs over each other. There would be a serious clean-up on aisle 4.

Meanwhile, Eva’s ex, Lance Gross, is also keeping himself in the headlines (maybe they’re battling to see who can keep their names in the press the most, I dunno). Lance tweeted this "fresh out the gym" photo of himself with his chest all out.

Holla!

Brew Quotes: Mo’Nique to Sandra

From one “open" marriage to another, busted wide open marriage? Maybe.

Mo’Nique wants Sandra Bullock to call her.

"To my sweet sister Sandra, my prayers are with you. My prayers are also with your husband, baby. That is between the two of you and I hope ya'll make it work. It's hard, but that's their business. Let them go through their situation ... I don't wish her nothing but happiness, along with her husband. ... I don't want to see any marriages dissolve or break up. Sandra, if you need me, sugar, call me, baby..."

-Mo’Nique’s words to Sandra Bullock in an interview with Entertainment Tonight

What do you think Mo would really tell Sandy?

Did Gator Diss Ms. Parker Too???

He was caught making this "yeah ok Precious' mom" face after her speech. Hmmmm......

Caller you say what?

Did Clooney Diss Monique???

He seemed to be in a funky mood, even at the opening as he surely did not find Steve and Alec funny in the least bit, but what do we make of this? He stood in applause for Sandy B's win (my boo!), but not Ms. Parker, hmmmmm. Maybe there's something to it or maybe nothing at all, what's your take?

Mo'Nique's Oscar Win

Mo’Nique has gone from chasing that professor dude on The Parkers to picking up a golden Oscar statue for her role in Precious.

Looking stunning in blue, Mo’Nique will probably go down in history as the first and only person to say the word B-E-T on an Oscar stage.

Take a listen…

Does she say "baybee" in every sentence?

"Precious" Sweeps Indie Spirit Awards

It was a clean sweep for the film Precious at Friday's Independent Spirit Awards.

Precious won every award for which it was nominated, including best picture. Gabourey Sidibe and Mo'Nique picked up trophies for best actress and best supporting actress, respectively. Lee Daniels was honored for directing the film. Precious also won best screenplay.

Mo'Nique has been cleaning up this awards season but she says she hasn't written an Oscar acceptance speech because the universe would say "You have a lot of nerve."

Now, is it me or does Mo'Nique's husband have a whole lotta "howyoudoin" written across his face in that first pic?

Just wondering...

Anyway, Taste The Brew for more pics from the night.

Brew Bits: Tigger To Replace Donnie Simpson?

Word on the curb is former BET host and DC radio personality, Tigger, may move up from his afternoon spot on WPGC and into the morning shift vacated by Donnie Simpson. Simpson left the station in late January after three decades on local radio.  Sources say Big Tigger may be on the move soon. There were rumblings that Mo'Nique could be coming to the station after promos for "Mo'Nique's Morning Takeover" ran last weekend.  No official word from the station confirming either move, but one thing's clear, the bios of Simpson's fellow co-hosts have been removed from WPGC's website.  That can't be a great sign. DC folks, stay tuned...

Brew Tube: Jaheim on the Mo'Nique Show

Jaheim popped by the Mo'Nique show the other night to perform his hit (and my personal grown woman in the club jam) "Ain't Leavin' Without You." I don't expect him to hump the floor or anything, but is it me, or does he look a little stiff?

Meh.

Still dig the song though.

Brew Tube: SWV “If Only You Knew”

SWV reemerged on the Mo’Nique show last night. The trio sang Patti LaBelle’s “If Only You Knew,” and, in Paula Abdul-speak, they “made it their own.”

I’ma need Coko to never make that eyeshadow her own ever again though.

And props to Lelee for getting a real solo.

Speaking of "Push" ....Is Ms. Monique Feeling Herself?????

Word on the curb is Mo Mo wants nothing to do with promo for her film which has tremendous Oscar buzz surrounding her performance. One of her so called friends, the kind Whodini would warn us about, says Mo made this statement:

"When people say, 'You care more about money than winning an Oscar,' well, what does an Oscar mean? An Oscar means more work when you win it, and that means more money! I couldn't eat that Oscar. Everybody needs money, baby. That's how we survive, right?"
source

Hmmm, what's the deal Mo? It's like that now? Don't think we forgot about 'Soul Plane".......

Apparently her funky tude has turned Harpo and Madea, the film's producers, against her. They are now pushing for Mariah Cannon to get the Oscar nod.......

Oh and her new talk show comes on tonight on the Buffoonery Network......

Brew Books: "Push" by Sapphire

Disturbing, compelling, profound....Those are just a few words to describe the book "Push" by Sapphire. I was eager to read it after hearing some of my friendgirls talk about it. Then I found out Oprah was making it into a movie due out in November so I knew I had to move. I read it in one day. Not to give too much away, the book focuses on Chareece "Precious" Jones, a Harlem youth trying to survive while living with obesity, illiteracy, sexual abuse and poverty. Her father began raping her while she was still in pampers and she ends up having two children by him. But that's only a small part of what she encounters. Precious' story is so sad and unfortunately familiar to many. By the end of the book you fall in love with her. You want to help her. You want to help period. Precious grapples with self-esteem issues that would make the average middle-class person rethink complaining about trivial ish like having to wait in line too long for your Soy Chai at Starbucks. Her life is real in the field! "Push" reminded me of "The Coldest Winter Ever", by Sistah Souljah. It's not a long read but I'll take a short blazin' book over a long boring book that gives me nothing. It also doesn't neatly tie everything up. It leaves you wondering which I love. There is already Oscar buzz surrounding the movie. "Precious" is scheduled to hit theaters in November with a star-studded cast including Monique, Paula Patton and Mariah Carey. I can't wait! Peep the trailer.....

Brew Health: The Incredible Shrinking Monique.....

From 262 TO 220, her goal is 200......

Monique is slimming down and doing it the right way, slow and steady. She has lost 40lbs so far and says she did it cause she wanted to give herself the opportunity to meet her children's children. Sounds like a great reason to me! Guess she wants a taste of life over on the slim side and she looks good. I know Mo gets flack from the BBW world about her decision to slim down and I don't get it. I think sometimes people accept the way they are cause they convince themselves they cant change or try to be better and that's not true. I'm sure she still thinks skinny women are evil but they are also healthier. We can do it ladies!!!

"The sex is better! I have so much more energy. I can move around better, and that's what it's all about. I want to lose more, so I'll just keep eating better and exercising, and the weight will come off. It took time to put in on, and it will take time to take if off. It's still okay to be big, but let's be big and healthy. I had to lose some weight to get healthier because I want to be around for a while. I have twin sons who are 3 and a son who is 19, and I want the opportunity to meet their children."

Better sex???!!!! SIGN ME UP!!
